I am trying to pick some wallpaper for my bedroom. Its a reasonable sized room, with one window.

The ceilings are quite high, and I was planning on putting some patterened wallpaper on one wall (probably something modern, with red/gold/beige) and then keeping the rest of the walls plain.

Are large patterns a good or bad idea where there are high ceilings. It is also one of the wider walls in the room.

Just want a bit of advice on any do’s and dont’s when decorating rooms with high ceilings.

Sounds like a great idea to me! Just be sure to "size" the wall before you paper it. If you skip this step the wallpaper will be nearly impossible to remove and probably do damage when it is removed! Large/ High wall space really requires a larger pattern it fits the scale of the room.

i cant paint them, but i wanna do something, but something inexpensive. im good with arts and crafts, im just all out of ideas. my room is black, red, and white….i like black and white photos, music and music notes, old victorian look, the fleur de lis symbol, poetry, paintings, the look of birds flying, black and white city pictures, black and white nature shots, and things like that. i hope thats enough, please help!

try going to second hand shops such as the Good Will. you should be able to find art work, photos etc. you can then make up a nice collage for your walls using those items and it will also be in the colors that you need. the price i’m sure will be reasonable.

Like i said i’m a college student.. and on a budget. I need some cheap way to decorate the walls.. My room will be pink n brown.

Ikea has cheap posters (i think like five bucks each?) that you can use to decorate. Another really cheap way is to just buy picture frames (Hobby Lobby is having a 50% off sale now!) and then print out pictures from your digital camera (super cheap at target and really easy) and just put those pictures up on your wall. You don’t even need pictures — I just taped mine up.

If you’re really into magazines or one specific magazine, collect covers of them and put those up on your wall or cut out fashion magazine spreads and decorate with those. It would cool if you could find pink/brown inspired collections to match your room but that might be more difficult.

Anyway, good idea on not spending too much money. Most people just throw away all decorates at the end of the year.
